Mary Jane Pierce Norton

Rev. MaryJane Pierce Norton teaches Sunday school, plans the intergenerational Sunday school sessions, and serves as part of the worship team at West Nashville UMC.

MaryJane holds a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Scarritt College, a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling from The University of Memphis, and a Bachelor of Arts from Lyon College.

She is the author of several books: Your Baby Is for Loving; Questions Parents Ask About Confirmation: A Handbook; Faithful Future Vol. 2: Teaching and Learning for Discipleship; The Ministry of Christian Education and Formation: A Practical Guide for Your Congregation; Making God Real for a New Generation, co-edited with Craig Miller.

Currently, she serves as Associate General Secretary for Leadership Ministries at the General Board of Discipleship of The United Methodist Church. She served previously as: Director of Children's Ministries (1981 to 1993); Trainer in Quest (1993 to 1996); and Director of Family Ministries (1997 to 2008). Prior to coming to GBOD, she was Director of Christian Education at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She lives in Nashville with her husband and they have three grown children.
