William B. Lewis is a retired Bishop of The United Methodist Church. He holds degrees from Drew (MDiv class of 1956) and Vanderbilt (Ph.D. in 1963). He went on to serve 38 years in the Southern Illinois Conference, six of them as a District Superintendent.

Rev. Dr. Lewis was serving at Union UMC in Belleville when he was elected Bishop in 1988. He retired from the Episcopacy in 1996 after serving eight years in the Dakotas Area.
