The face at the window
“I was driving home one night…I pulled up to a stoplight. I noticed a woman running up to my car, right up to the window. With a look of desperation on her face, she asked for $20…I said no,” begins Ryan Ahlgrim, pastor of First Mennonite Church of Richmond, Virginia. He deeply regrets not helping her and her face still haunts him. Why? Ahlgrim says that there are three big surprises in today’s passage, the parable of the sheep and the goats in Matthew 25:31-46. Just like this woman’s face, these three parables can turn our lives and our faith upside down and inside out.
