Las Posadas is a parade-style recreation of Joseph and Mary's trip to Bethlehem traveling from posada to posada (inn to inn) on the nine nights preceding Christmas.

Adapt this small skit for your setting, and make sure to include all the children in your church. Classrooms or hallways can be turned into the inns they visit. At the last inn/house make sure it is a large enough room to have snacks, a piñata, or dinner. Sing carols along the route or once everyone is at the last inn.

Use this for a Christmas Eve or Christmas Day family friendly service!

All: Knock, Knock
Response: Who's there?
Joseph 1: Please take us in. Mary is tired from walking so far.
House 1: This isn't a place of shelter. You can't come in. You might be a thief.

All: Knock, Knock
Response: Who's there?
Joseph 2: Please feel pity for us poor travelers. God will reward your kindness. Maye we please come in?
House 2: Go away, we have no room for you. I will send the dogs after you.

All: Knock, Knock
Response: Who's there?
Joseph 3: My name is Joseph, a carpenter from Nazareth. My wife is Mary. She is to have a baby. We need a warm place. Do you have any room?
House 3: I don't care who you are. It's late. Everyone is asleep. Go away and leave us alone.

All: Knock, Knock
Response: Who's there?
Joseph 4: Please listen to me! I am Joseph. This is Mary. She is to be the mother of Jesus, son of God Most High. Will you make room for God's son to be born in your house?
House 4: Yes, Yes! Come in out of the cold. We have no beds but you may rest here. You will be warm and dry. The baby will be safe here.
Joseph 4: God will bless this house and all who live in it.
All: Let's get ready! The baby Jesus will be born soon.
