Light seeping in around the edges
Jim Somerville preaches a sermon from this Sunday’s Gospel lesson: John 2:1-11. In thinking about Jesus turning water into wine, Somerville remembered those rare occasions in his childhood when he got to drink a soda, and how he wondered what it would be like to have all the soda you can drink. What would a boy do with that kind of abundance? What does that kind of abundance have to do with the gospel? Jesus seems to see a connection between bountiful wine at a wedding and the way God’s kingdom might flow into the world.
